Current funding for the Fedora project will last through the end of September, 2007. We have begun to develop a strategy for how to pass the project to a community-based organization that can sustain and grow both the software and the community of Fedora users in the future. We are working through the legal and financial possibilities for such an organization with an advisory board that we set up last year. While we have not arrived at any final decisions on those fronts, we have defined a working organizational structure, as described below. Working with our advisory board, we do expect to have the big picture worked out in the near future and will report on decisions here as they are made. The Fedora project team will maintain it's ownership of the code-base and will lead the community at least until the end of the project in September, 2007.

The Advisory Board
The advisory board was formed by invitation from the project directors. It is intended to work closely with them to develop a plan for sustaining the project into the future and to help to begin to acquire the resources needed to realize it. It is assumed that this board will be replaced by a Board of Directors that will take over the reins from the project directors at some point.
